Back to School: Erin recently participated in a Goodwill school-to-work program career panel at Aurora Central High School in Aurora, Colorado. It was great speaking to high schoolers about the freelance life -- and it's not the first time Erin has gone back to school (she had a great time talking to undergrads about business writing and the freelance life at The University of Denver in October 2006!)

Erin M. Blakemore is a Boulder, Colorado-based freelance writer. She is a native of San Diego, California.

Her articles have appeared in local and national publications in print and online; in addition, her historical research has appeared in several recent volumes. Since 2004, she has been providing freelance business and marketing writing to a variety of clients nationwide.

Erin began her undergraduate study at Smith College, and graduated from UCLA with a baccalaureate degree in history in 2003. In 1996, she was awarded the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship and spent a year as an exchange student in Fulda, Germany. She was a semifinalist for a Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies in 2002.

Her interests include American studies, language, history, literature, media, music, politics, and popular culture. A free speech and media activist, she worked closely with the San Diego Independent Media Center to promote independent journalism and combat corporate consolidation. In 2004, she organized and participated in Media EmergenC, a national alternative media conference.

Erin recently retired from the Denver Roller Dolls, a local roller derby league. She is training for her first triathlon.

She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, Boulder Writers' Alliance, and Boulder Media Women.
